Wally and the Nanny, Joe scopes out houses.

After Mary got her promotion to the State Assembly, she and Joe agreed that leaving Wally with a Nanny for an hour after school wasn't going to hurt anything.

"Wally's such a nice kid, he should be able to get along for an hour without us," Mary said, and Joe agreed. It would be good for his boy to interact with others outside of the family while still in the safety of his own home and personal domain. Maybe if he became friends with the Nanny he'd have someone else to talk to about the kids at school, and how to deal with their teasing and alienation.

The Nanny, Calista, was reading a newspaper in a chess table chair on the front deck when Wally came home from school today. She immediately stood up when he got off the bus, and Wally headed over to her for a quick chat, just to see what that would go like. It went well, and gave Wally a sense of comfort, even though he missed Mom and Dad and would rather see them after school for recounting the adventures of the day.

On the way home from work, Joe checked out some bigger houses in the area - one that would support a teenager and two young children, plus both parents. Also, he was tired of living with low-quality appliances and having no way to exercise at home, so when he drove by the Tidy Tudor with a swimming pool in the yard and thought the house might be the right size, he slammed on the brakes and parked.

Joe didn't think of calling the house's sales agent, he walked right to the front door, knocked, and when a middle-aged gent answered the door, Joe started his tour of the house. Turns out it was just over $95,000 and looked PERFECT for Joe and Mary's needs. Joe and Mary don't have that much money yet, but it gives them a goal.
